Peace & Prayer: Myrtle Beach Imam mourns loved ones killed in Gaza Strip attacks
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Ibrahim Dremali is a local Imam, or Arabic priest, who moved to the United States more than three decades ago. However, while he's now here, his family and his heart are still in the Middle East.
A war-torn Gaza strip has left hundreds dead and thousands more injured.
The last few days have brought him heartbreak, as he mourns for Gaza and the rising death toll of his loved ones.

"It's very hard to see your family get hurt and get tortured and tortured, and it happens with this house and this house on our street, many houses got destroyed," Dremali said.

Dremali visited Saber and the rest of his family in Gaza for three months last year and described the large, but compact community as a home to civilians - not militants.
"The people, everybody was asking for peace; nothing else," said Dremali.
As the attacks continue, Dremali is trying to keep in contact with his family, "I have five sisters in Gaza and two brothers in Gaza.

Due to the communication barriers, Dremali is left to find out about the daily destruction and death of his loved ones through social media messages.

"I wish to be with them in that time," said an emotional Dremali.
"I wish to be with them to support them. Unfortunately, I have I cannot do anything to help.
